Koola Adams at Letter in Mind

Koola Adams

I will be exhibiting in the annual A Letter in Mind exhibition, part of the National Brain Appeal charity.
This year, the vibrant community of contributing artists has chosen the theme ‘The Wonder of Colour’. Starting with a simple envelope, artists, patients, and supporters showcase how they’ll bring the wonder of colour to life in envelope artworks.

The lineup of well-known A Letter in Mind contributors includes luminaries such as Axel Scheffler, Leigh Francis (Keith Lemon), Tracey Emin, Morag and Ishbel Myerscough, Chantal Joffe, Indira Varma, Chris Riddell, and Dame Zandra Rhodes.

Each artwork is priced at £85, and all pieces will be exhibited and sold through the online gallery, aletterinmind.org , with the option to view them in person at Gallery Different, 14 Percy St, London W1T 1DR. All proceeds from sales will go towards supporting vital projects at Queen Square National Brain Appeal. Last year, the 10th-anniversary celebration pushed the overall total raised over a decade to more than £300,000 – an incredible achievement.

@The White Cube Gallery, Harrow Arts Centre and Greenhill Art POD

Running from Monday 5th August to Friday 30th August

This is the second year for HOS to organise and curate a special exhibition for young creatives in Harrow and beyond. Inspired by the archive collection at Headstone Manor and Museum and supported by Harrow Art Centre, this years theme was Entertainment

Come and join these talented people and help to encourage and respect their artistic development by visiting this free exhibition at Harrow Art Centre White Cube Gallery.

Art will also be displayed at the Green Hill Art POD, behind the Lloyds Bank building off Station Road.

Why is it important that we showcase young creatives?

Since 2010 the take up of creative subjects at exam level has fallen by 47%, schools are reducing access to arts subjects and central and local governments are systematically reducing spending on the arts. Harrow Open Studios wants to develop opportunities for emerging visual artists to be displayed and celebrated by everyone.

The gallery was initially set up in 2012 with lottery funding by a group of artists in Harrow and it was saved from closure in 2022 by a group of artists in Harrow.  If we want to ensure that it stays as a designated art gallery, we need to use it.  If we want to show that there is a need for a better facility for the hundreds of thousands of people in Harrow we need to fill it to bursting with the art that is already happening in and around Harrow. This exhibition is part of Harrow Open Studios’ aim, to celebrate visual art in Harrow, to show the people of Harrow that they are a creative force, to introduce them to the fact that they have a gallery they can use and to work towards a thriving public gallery in the future.

Come and see what our young poeple have created and tell everybody about it.
