Artist of the Week: Ashima Kumar

Art can penetrate the very deepest part of us, where no words exist.

I have been working at the cutting edge of Graphic Design and Visual Art. My creative works are an exploration of the world around me. Inspired by traditional art and geometric shapes I have developed my own style of contemporary art. I work with mixed mediums to express my thoughts, feelings and perceptions. The mediums I play around with are pen, ink, water colours, acrylics, gold leaf and technology.

My work is often considered a fine example of what possibilities happen when you pair clean, strong forms with a powerful message. My artworks are translation of my dreams. That is why art to me is ‘Dream, Doodle, Design’. My effort has been to showcase how, with the use of bold and rule-breaking visual language, art can inspire and be a vital element in the self growth and also in nudging public perceptions in desirable ways.

To make my art more versatile I adapt my paintings on to silk scarves. These scarves are a contemporary style statement and homage to the eternal within us.
