Medium: Fabric dye on silk
Dimensions: 90cm square
This is a painting on silk depicting a view of Hitchin lavender fields. It has a border of poppies which can also be seen at the farm. The piece can be described as ‘wearable art’ as it is 90cm square and is intended to be worn as a scarf. I paint and draw regularly at the lavender fields and then translate the images on to silk using dyes. The texture of the silk is lustrous and the colours glow, enhancing any other garment that is worn.

About Jane Anne
I describe myself as a painter and textile artist. I have also been experimenting recently with Lino printing. I studied textiles at art college and also achieved a post graduate certificate in education. I taught textiles for many years and now have my own studio in Harrow where I am able to focus on my own artwork. I have produced a collection of hand painted silk scarves, some of which have been put into production so that I can offer them at a lower price than the original artwork. I also have many paintings and drawings that I have done over the years, believing that drawing is of fundamental importance to all subsequent design work. Subject matter is mainly of natural forms and landscapes although I also have many life drawings and portraits. I enjoy trying new techniques and have been pleased with the results of my Lino prints which feature sunflowers, deer in Richmond park and owls!
