The Cloths of Heaven by Christine Spring

Medium: Oil
Dimensions: 120cm x 180cm
Price: not for sale

This oil painting is 4’ x 6’. I have chosen my main colour as gold because the palomino horse featured in my picture is in memory of my beloved Star Dust.

The painting illustrates the short poem by W.B.Yeats, Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven:

Had I Heaven’s embroidered cloths,

Enwrought with Gold and silver light,

The blue and the dim and the dark cloths

of night and light and half light.

I would spread the cloths under your feet:

But I, being poor, have only my dreams:

I have spread my dreams under your feet,

Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

This painting is not for sale but I do take commissions. I have many years experience in a wide range of materials which include oils, watercolours, acrylics, and mixed media. I enjoy a challenge and frequently work in all these media from small detailed pictures to scenery painting for stage sets and murals.
