Since childhood she was passionate about drawing and colouring, but her lifestyle never allowed her to follow her passion until later in life. Now that she paints, she never limits herself. Being versatile, she chooses any subject, tries her hand in any medium, sometimes even paints the same subject in different mediums just to challenge herself. Her motto is “ Paint whatever you fancy, whenever you fancy”

Mixed Media Artist

Having lived in Kenya, UK, Singapore and India, Ketna has been widely acclaimed for converting her Global insights into a compelling visual vocabulary that has injected a fresh counter expression to the predominantly western dominated narrative of World Art.

Using different cultures and historical events, Ketna juxtaposes mythological characters, Gods, political icons and the common man on the same canvas. There is a fresh romance between the old and the new, breaking through stringent cultural, political, and class boundaries that have dominated the world for centuries.

This colourful and confident visual language has been applied onto Art, Fashion, Furniture … virtually on any surface imaginable!

Sam uses newspaper cuttings, magazine items, tissue paper, serviettes and her own photographs to create her unique mixed media artwork. She is inspired by colour, texture, architecture and nature.

Sam’s work develops organically by utilising layers of paper, producing mysterious little worlds on canvas.
