Painter

Humay studied illustration at the Harrow School of Art in the early 1980’s. A return to Art saw him join Cheryl Gould’s life drawing classes. One thing led to another and his controlled illustration style gave way to a freer gestural method and he is now a member of the Harrow Art Society and Harrow Open Studios, as well as Pinner Sketch Club and Watford and Bushey Art Society.

Humay’s subject matter is very personal including friends, family and himself and their interests. Humay uses oils for his imaginative studies and his life drawings are developed using mixed media (usually oils, charcoal, ink and collage).

He raised money for charity by running a life drawing class which was captured on film. Humay is not currently running weekly life drawing classes, but is open to being contacted about these.

On the 13th, 14th and 20th June 2026 Humay will set up a large canvas and start a painting which the general public will assist in the completion (Co-production).

Painter, Mixed Media Artist

My work explores the invisible spaces where inner experience meets shared cultural memory. I am drawn to psychological and social borders—the unspoken boundaries that shape identity, belonging, and connection. Through abstract, symbolic forms, I create paintings that function as open conversations rather than fixed narratives, inviting viewers to reflect, pause, and bring their own meanings into the work.

My process is intuitive and responsive. Each painting begins with a gesture, a colour, or a feeling, unfolding slowly through layers of paint and moments of stillness. I pause often, allowing the work to reveal itself rather than forcing resolution. This rhythm of action and reflection creates a sense of movement and transformation, as though the painting exists in a state of becoming.

Inspired by mythology, memory, and lived experience, my work uses fluid forms and shifting colour to suggest transition and dialogue. Ultimately, I hope each piece offers a space for quiet recognition—where viewers encounter not only the artwork, but themselves.

Nandhini will be working on a piece of artwork during her open studio event, for you to see progress.

Mixed Media Artist

Sheenum is a mixed media artist based in London. She is self-taught, and has been on this creative & experimental journey for the last 20 years.
Sheenum draws inspiration from her Indian heritage, and her style embodies a blend of traditional and contemporary. She has refined her skills over the years through various workshops, and through exploring different art forms and materials to give her pieces more dimension and personality. For her, creativity is a journey without any preconceived ideas or set rules, which she says often results in the best pieces.

She uses a mix of acrylic paint, paper, textiles and threads to create depth and visual layering in her paintings. She also hand paints furniture, wooden boxes and panels to create wall art.
She always likes to have a project in hand and loves to try the untested.

On 25th June 2026 I will be running a Block printing workshop. For details email: hello@colourfulsmudges.co.uk

Ceramic Artist

Carmen’s practice draws inspiration from a diverse range of sources, weaving together personal experiences, emotions, and the organic forms and textures found in nature.

Her contemporary ceramics often echo natural objects, exploring the subtle relationships between surface, texture, colour, and form.

Through a process built on repetition and precision, Carmen’s making embodies patience and an immersive attention to detail.

Working predominantly with a restrained colour palette, she uses colour and contrasts to highlight the intricate patterns and tactile qualities that define her ceramic forms.

Painter

Roy Rodgers was educated at Kingston School of Arts. After National Service, he returned to study at Royal Academy Schools where he went on to win the Landseer Painting Scholarship tenable for two years ending in 1962 and David Murray landscape prize and two Landseer medals for painting. In 1963, Roy became the winner of Lord Mayor’s Art Award.
Roy later became a senior lecturer at Harrow School of Art until 1985. He then went on and worked as a sculptor in the British film industry on most of the major films made in the UK until 2009. Films including Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Labyrinth, Empire of the Sun, Alien, Tomb Raider 1 & 2, Hamlet, Elizabeth I, The Mummy 1 & 2, Harry Potter (films 2,3 & 4) and Prometheus to name but a few.

Now as a full time Painter he says ” I do not look at areas within a landscape in terms of what would make a “good picture”, but rather feel a sensation that the place may evoke.
In the same way that taste, smell, or hearing a particular piece of music may effect one’s senses, my paintings are based to a large extent on a combination of memory and on the spot drawings and watercolours.”

Roy also runs oil painting classes, giving demos, lectures, and exhibiting regularly is awe inspiring.
His works can be seen in numerous Private and Public Collections.

Artist – Roy Rodgers
“Kenneth Clarke once said ‘the most important thing about painting is that it must be life enhancing.’
To live with a painting by Roy Rodgers is a life enhancing experience, as he always shows us his way of seeing the world. He reveals the world to us, he celebrates the world and he communicates that celebration to us.”

Harinder Sahota

Harinder’s work delves into the idea that the objects we gather throughout our lives can become extensions of who we are, deeply entwined with memory and emotion.

Her latest series focuses on people from her own community and the cherished items they hold close—featuring portraits of artist Ketna Patel, psychology student Anya Bhogal, yoga teacher Mita Shah, and concluding with a self-portrait. These four paintings will be showcased as part of a larger exhibition in Edinburgh this June.
